Vegetable Upma



Upma is a traditional South Indian dish which is made out from Semolina.It is mostly common for breakfast.Various seasoning and vegetables are added during cooking to give a better taste.It is a quick and easy dish for the breakfast.

Ingredients :

Semolina  250 g
Water 2 cups
Chopped  Cabbage  1 cup 
Chopped Carrots 1 cup
Chopped red onions  4-5
Cashews  25g
Chicken soup cubes 1
Turmeric powder 1/2 Tsp
Chili powder 1 Tsp
Cumin seeds 1/2  Tsp
Mustered seeds 1/2 Tsp
Salt and Pepper
Margarine or oil 
Curry leaves
Cinnamon  1 inch


Method :

Heat a pan with some margarine  and roast the semolina  for 5 minutes. Keep it for cool. Heat the pan with some oil and add mustered  seed,cumin seeds, cashews, curry leaves , cinnamon for some time.Add chopped  onions,vegetables, chill powder, turmeric powder, salt, pepper and cook for 2 -3 minutes. Stir the  chicken soup cube in the water and add to the vegetables mixture. Add the roasted semolina gradually and mix it well.Switch off the cooker and keep for another 2 -3 minutes. Serve with a chicken curry or any other spicy curry.
