Kurakkan Pittu



Pittu is a traditional breakfast  and dinner dish which is famous in South India and Sri Lanka.Pittu can be made out of Rice flour, Atta flour or Kurakkan flour.

Kurrakan also known as Ragi is a type of millet which is  gluten free and diabetic friendly. Kurakkan is rich with fiber and vitamins.It also helps to reduce diabetic and cholesterol . Also  it support for the weight loss. This recipe is about making Kurakkan Pittu.


Ingredients :

Kurakkan flour  2 cups
Salt   1/2 Tsp
Freshly scraped  coconut   1/2 cup
Warm water


Method :

In a bowl mix salt and scraped coconut. Add flour little by little  into the coconut and curdle it until it makes little lumps.Add little bit of water to keep the moisture.Curdle the mixture well until the flour mixture become coarse and grainy.Transfer the flour mixture into the pittu bamboo  and steam for 10 minutes. Serve with coconut milk gravy (Kiri hodi) and Spicy chilli sambal (Lunu miris) in hot.
